Garden Dragon and Dandelion Painting

I'm really having fun with these little Garden Dragon paintings. Ten paintings in this series have sold so far, and at this time, I only have four left. This little Dandelion painting is one I finished today.

Although Dandelions are not usually welcome by gardeners, I think this little Garden Dragon likes them.

I've been busy packaging and shipping paintings the last couple days, and have just today gotten back to the paint brushes. I think they missed me...... ;o)

Penguin As Still Life Painting

This little porcelain penguin sits happily on a shelf in my kitchen. He is a cute little dude, and makes me smile when I look at him. So when deciding to work on a realistic still life painting, what better choice than him?

This is an acrylic painting on a tweed colored artist's paper, made by Canson. I like Canson paper, they are consistent in their product and this particular tweed color gives the illusion of texture, a bit more 'depth' than plain white.

In painting this little penguin, I decided to forgo any shadow, I thought it was kind of neat how he just sort of 'hangs there' in space.

"I Failed Miserably"... I wonder if people ever say, "I Failed Joyfully?". ;o)

Anyway, my hat is off to all the artist's who have committed to a personal goal of "A Painting A Day" and succeeded. On Nov. 4, 2006 I heard about the concept of completing a small painting every day and listing it for sale on-line. I decided to give it a try. What I found out, is that my life and personality just doesn't allow for such a thing to happen.

For me, a painting takes longer than one day. Most of the work, (for me anyway) is done even before a paintbrush is picked up. The original idea, the concept, the technique, the color combos are all worked out in my head, brewing and stewing in there for days, weeks, sometimes years.

So congratulations to all committed Daily Painters, you have my admiration!!!
